In anticipation of an imminent and serious downturn in the shipping cycle SecondWind was founded in May 2008 by Jean Richards, CEO, to provide comprehensive support services to banks and investors with problem shipping loans.

Problem shipping loans are expensive in management time and the use of SecondWind to supplement the client’s own team ensures that normal activities and new opportunities do not take second place because of a crisis work-out involving only a small portion of the portfolio. SecondWind combines experience, analytical skills and a wealth of both historical and current market information to provide strategic and practical solutions for banks and investors.  

SecondWind works with a worldwide network of professionals including Owners, Shipbrokers, Surveyors, Insurers and Technical Managers to provide the best team for each project.   

Our management team have more than 75 years experience in shipping and finance and the CEO Jean Richards has been providing commercial assistance to shipping banks and investors since 1984 in her role as Director of Fairwind Shipping Ltd and more recently as CEO of Quantum Shipping Services Ltd.
